Restriction suggestions for the minimum stay

How happyhotel creates minimum stay suggestions and where you find them.

happyhotel suggests when a minimum stay pays off and when you should relax it again. You decide on every suggestion yourself. Nothing changes without your click.

The feature is new and still in beta. Your feedback helps us make the suggestions better.

How are the suggestions made?

Every night, happyhotel checks the coming months for your Revenue Rate. For each day we look at:

  • how full your property already is on that day and how full the forecast says it will be
  • how many bookings and cancellations came in over the last two weeks
  • whether there are events or public holidays in your calendar
  • which minimum stay you've already set
  • which suggestions you accepted or discarded before

From that we build a suggestion for a period: increase or decrease the minimum stay. For example "2 nights from 12 to 14 March, because there's a trade fair and the property is already 70% booked".

A few principles:

  • Shortly before arrival we don't suggest new minimum stays. At that point it's more about relaxing existing ones so you can still sell the last rooms.
  • We only suggest higher minimum stays when the bookings really back it up.
  • If you discarded a suggestion, we won't suggest something similar for the same days any time soon. We take the comment you left when discarding into account for later suggestions.
  • Closed days don't get suggestions.

Where do I find the suggestions?

  • In the menu: A number next to the price calendar shows how many suggestions are open.
  • In the price calendar: The minimum stay row shows the suggested value in bold, next to it the current value crossed out and an arrow pointing up or down.
  • In the sidebar: Restriction suggestions at the top of the price calendar opens the list of all open suggestions.
  • In the daily email report: A block shows how many suggestions are open and takes you straight to the list.

When do I get suggestions?

Suggestions are on for your property automatically if:

  • you're on a paid happyhotel plan
  • your PMS can store a minimum stay
  • the pricing algorithm runs for your property
  • you have exactly one Revenue Rate
